Service Description

Fun gundog skills work shop with Startrite dog training and Wuthering hounds. This work shop is aimed at people who want to dip their toe into training their pet gundog and get to know more about their gundog breed or gundog breed cross. Learn why they do the things they do, tap into their amazing genetics, give them outlets for deeply ingrained behaviours and build an awesome relationship !! What will you learn ?? ✅Exactly what your dog was bred to do and why they behave the way they do. ✅Introduction to the place board and how it can be used to train certain behaviours. ✅ The beginnings of steadiness. ✅ How to improve your retrieve, common problems and how to avoid them. ✅ Fun ways to work on your retrieve pattern. ✅ How to use reward based training for your gundog breed. Building value in reinforcers. ✅ The beginnings of the stop whistle. ✅ Exercises to reduce over arousal. ✅ Heelwork under distraction. The workshop is limited to 6 handler spaces, spectator spaces will be available too. After the workshop you will be invited to a private fb which will be available for 3 months after attending where the trainers can review any videos and answer any questions you have re: content covered in the workshop. ‼️You will need to purchase an ACME whistle prior to attending the course if you don’t already have one. Whistles will be available to purchase on the day for £10‼️ 🛑 PLEASE READ 🛑 There are some stipulations to be attend this workshop… 1. Dogs must have a reasonable level of general obedience. 2. Dogs must be comfortable working in an indoor and outdoor environment with other dogs and people, the class will not be suitable for reactive dogs. 3. Dogs must be able to focus on their handler around other dogs and people. 4. The workshop will not suitable for dogs that resource guard items from people or other dogs ( resource guarding means they can become aggressive when they have something they perceive as valuable or will not approach or be near anyone with something in their mouth ) The day will run from 10am to 4pm. Refreshments will be available but please do bring lunch.
